Peanut Butter Breaks

And, um, basically before I started Stones Throw, I was doing...

I did this instrumental hip hop record called Peanut Butter Breaks for another label, and it was their idea.

They're like, "Hey, you know, we, we, we have this breakbeat series.

Can you do a, a record for us?" And I did, and then I started getting on other compilations and, you know, doing singles for other labels.

Yeah, Shoes showed it to me in around '95.

Like, I...

So my, uh, Peanut Butter Breaks record that I mentioned was in '94, and I worked at a record distributor and Shoes, um, he worked at a record store in Detroit, and he looked at the record and to order more and it had my pager number on it, so he left a message and I called him back and, you know, I got him copies of the record.

And he was always ordering other stuff for, um, that store, like hip hop, and I, I had started a hip hop division at this distributor that I was working at.
