Peace Palace

We want to contain some of the more horrific practices in war, and we don't want to have war itself.

And that latter sentiment leads into the founding in 1913 of the Peace Palace in The Hague.

And the idea is let's have states arbitrate and later litigate instead of going to war.

We see echoes in the covenant of the League of Nations.

On this day in 1909, a group of mid-level Greek army officers launches the Gaudi Coup, seeking wide-ranging reforms, including larger-to-go coffee cups from diners.

On this day in 1913, Queen Wilhelmina opens the Peace Palace in The Hague.

And knowing Queen Wilhelmina, everyone eventually got a peace.

On this day in 1916, Germany declares war on Romania and Italy declares war on Germany.
