I want to mention that another UCP organization, probably the second largest, I think, after Nonviolent Peace Force and one which also does work both domestically and abroad.

is Peace Brigades International.

And I'm saluting them because this week, PBI turned 45.

So unarmed civilian protection is not something that just parachuted in.

It always seems to start with the Quakers.

The Quaker Peace Center on Grindstone Island in Canada.

And in the course of a week, they formed Peace Brigades International, which went on to do wonderful work.
