There's so many out there.

ISO, PSA, PCA3, XODX, my prostate score, PHI, 4K score, name it.

I try to be all-inclusive.

And that helped decide whether to biopsy at all.

This year I had a CAT scan that was only three weeks after my current urology visit where they told me I was fine, where they showed that there were nodules on my prostate which appeared to be malignant.
E

So I went in and they had this new test called the PCA3.
E
25:08EricAUDIENCE
and it's where they basically milk your prostate with you having a full bladder and then you urinate and that fluid comes out in your urine and they do a urine test.

And mine came back positive for prostate cancer.
E

So I've got a two-pronged question with that and one is, Is all that cancerous fluid now floating around in those punctures they made for the biopsy, which may be increasing the chances of prostate cancer, even though it may not be there now? And the second question is, with the PSA and the PCA3 being so useless and the trend of the PCA being useless, what kind of testing in the future can I look to for being helpful?

I think one thing to look at, for the most part, with the biopsies that they do, there's a big controversy on if you do the biopsy, do you free up more cancer cells like you're talking about and kind of spread them where they don't really need to go when they were contained inside of a mass? There's not a lot of research around it that supports that that really does happen, but So I don't want to tell you that it doesn't happen because I've seen some research behind that kind of like what you're talking about.
A

So kind of in the middle because your standard medical research, which is what everybody goes by anyways, says that it doesn't, that it's okay, right? But then you've got research out in Europe and whatnot where they say, well, yeah, probably not a good idea.
EP 806: Hangin' with Dr. Mistry & Dr. Jacomides! Urology is Pretty Specific and These Docs are Pretty Terrific!

Um, so until you find something that says it's better, you know, you gotta take that as your, as your gold standard, and then you say, "What is the other stuff on top of it?" A 4K score is a blood test.

There was PCA3.

It was a, like a urine biomarker.

There's a series of other versions of PSA in blood tests.

The nice thing is it doesn't require a prostate exam, which the PCA3, which it incorporates, did.
