We don't have to spend too much time on it, but just sort of where were you? How bad did it get? If you know what I mean? When did you start to think I've had enough of this? And how did you, how did you kick it? If you know what I mean?
4:10
Um, So it must have been my teen years has been the drinking sort of really ramped up.
4:17
It started to become more of a social thing where it was happening every weekend.
4:21
And that might have started at about 15.
4:25
16, 17 is when I started to introduce drugs, which is quite young.
4:29
So there was the likes of ecstasy, MDMA.
4:32
And then that took a bit of a backseat for a while in the drink and sort of pushed me forward into my uni days.

Over double.

is
6:36
a real reduction of credibility to people that know better and people are wising up.
6:42
I don't think our politicians, I mean, I know you're one of them, so you're the exception to this, our politicians aren't keeping up with public sentiment.
6:49
So a state that had decriminalisation in the 90s, that actually had more progressive cannabis approach in the past than most other states, that now has this bloke who's an ex-police minister who's who is against driving reform, who is happy with the harshest penalties for cannabis users in this country, still to just say something like that, it's just, it's lazy at a basic level, but it's actually really ill-informed.
7:14
And I hope that it creates a greater conversation about his credibility because not only does he have such disdain for smoke and dope, he's out there pouring beers nonstop.
7:25
Like this, he went out on like on a pouring beer spree after I'd already done my content.
7:30
Like he was already just cracking a beer left, right and center.

It's a symbiotic relationship.
12:46
So speaking of Canada and your experiences there, what lessons can Australia learn from the Canadian experience of regulation and legalisation more broadly?
12:57
I absolutely love what Canada did just from a global perspective.
13:02
The ability to just kind of go, screw it, this isn't a problem.
13:06
This isn't an election deal breaker.
13:09
For Justin Trudeau, it was actually an election deal maker.
13:11
It was actually so popular that it was probably... part of what got him elected.
13:15
For better or worse, you know, people have strong opinions about what the Canadian Cannabis Act is, and it is a highly flawed system of regulation.

20:46
So should we talk about it? Should we break it down? What's going on?
5:09
all this space better so to see you up there it's like of course of course yeah I can't wait to see how that goes now one of the reasons I wanted to have you on is because I've always seen you as someone who supports women really well but I also wonder whether that's partly because you've never felt like you fit the stereotypical cannabis culture yourself so how do you feel that you belong like in cannabis culture and where do you see that as sitting
5:40
yeah it's it's really interesting because cannabis worked for me really early it was something that you know I when I first tried pretty quickly was like oh I think I like what this does for me in a restoring balance sense I don't think I knew what that meant yet um I had Remy Dean Ryan on my show recently, and he said this great thing that he discovered weed in his teens, but cannabis in his 20s.
6:03
And I have kind of this similar feeling where it's like, you know, you dabble a little bit, you see where it could work, you maybe push the boundaries a little bit, but then, you know, you find your place.
6:13
But despite finding a love for cannabis, I never really found a community around it.
6:17
You know, it was always something I kind of secretly did.
6:19
I had a couple of great mates that I would do it with.
6:21
But it wasn't something I connected with in terms of go and waste the weekend getting high and doing nothing.

14 MINS LATER

20:53
Do you think there's been like a moment that made you realise that supporting women mattered or do you feel like this is just more naturally for you?
2:28
How did you kind of make that shift?
2:29
Well, it was more a case I was an accidental salesperson to start with, but intentional.
2:36
And this will make sense when I explain the story.
2:38
So I had a desire to grow a business.
2:40
Naturally, I thought that was going to be on the tools.
2:43
But...
2:44
This is early 90s.

8 MINS LATER

11:10
And what is the sales system?
