Paul Foot Award

It's fair to say we've had a pretty big year.

Uh, won the Paul Foot Award in May, Private Eye's Paul Foot Award, for our investigations into Labour Together, which was a very influential Labour think tank, and how they'd hired a PR firm to basically surveil on journalists who were reporting on their finances.

We've been breaking a lot of stories, most recently actually looking at the Tony Blair Institute and, and, uh, th- its corporate backers, and more generally looking at the role of money and power and influence in British politics, which, you know, in some ways our success is probably a reflection of the times we live in, where there's more money than ever in British politics, and from some of the places that are very surprising.

I think it's one of the things we're probably gonna talk about today.

He'd already made his name exposing corruption and fighting miscarriages of justice from the Birmingham Six to the John Paulson scandal.

There's still a private eye award called the Paul Foot Award for investigative journalism.

Paul Foot was really interested in it because it set up this kind of precedent for that you could be basically arrested and charged with anything on a fake confession.

Obviously, recording interviews now have changed that.
