Now, to curb the financial bleeding of record-breaking deficits, the NDP instituted a sweeping public service hiring freeze and rolled out a multi-year plan to eliminate 15,000 full-time equivalent positions, which, of course, the directory could have shown.

Now, Paul Finch, who is the president of the B.C. General Employees Union, which represents many public workers in the province, said that, quote, Obviously, there's a huge challenge here in front of the B.C. public service.

In the report, executives say that the results are a reflection of the bad budget.

The report says that, quote, may be experiencing challenges and pressures associated with fiscal constraints, significant organizational change within the BC public service, and broader global uncertainty.

Yeah, no.

I mean, I notice, uh, Paul Finch, the, uh, the head of, uh, BC General Employees Union, the main government union, uh, expressing bewilderness last night, bewilderment last night about, "We had to go on strike [laughs] for, for eight weeks in order to get a fair per settlement out of these people.

And meanwhile, in the same fiscal year, they're handing out bonuses to managers." And of course, one of the big issues that the unions raised was that the New Democrats have increased the number of managers, including senior managers in government, and, uh, than they did the public service itself.

So, and now they're handing out bonuses to them for performance.
