Paul Bragiel

Not one company gave me a job offer, and so my back was against the wall.

I sold all of my stuff in New York, moved out, moved into a hostel in San Francisco 'cause I didn't have a lot of money, and then that's where I met Paul Bragiel.

He had just moved to Palo Alto, and so then started brainstorming, talking, de- decided to jump in with him.

Moved into the same house.

He kept inviting me back to Singapore over one year of being out here.

It just started really cementing in that Singapore is this hub, physically and logically, of Southeast Asia.

Paul Bragiel, myself, and Jeffrey Paine then came together to co-found Golden Gate Ventures back in 2011.

Our hypothesis has not changed in over a decade, which is investing behind the rising consumer class of Southeast Asia.

And you can see-

Hey everybody, uh, my name is Paul Bragiel.

What I'm really well known for, probably here in Silicon Valley, is that I was an ear- early investor and advisory board member to Uber.

I joined the company when there was less than ten people working there.

[upbeat music] Hey, everybody.

Uh, my name is Paul Bragiel.

I guess you say engineer turned founder turned, uh, venture capitalist.

But yeah, in general, I just like to work with and get involved with cool companies around the world, and especially with really interesting entrepreneurs.
