Patrick Sharp

And one of those players between now and the last episode that we did two months ago, has reunited with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Patrick Kane signed.

Breaking news, Blackhawks signed Patrick Kane to a two-year deal worth, I think it's $8.8 million for two years, which some people mentioned probably not a coincidence that that was the number they ended up at.

I believe one of the last things I said in our last episode was that I desperately needed some team that was not the Blackhawks to sign Patrick Kane.

So clearly the Blackhawks are not listening to our podcast, which is probably for the best.

But I guess I have thoughts on it, but I'm going to I think I probably wrote something about it two months ago.

I think I'm just going to swing it over to Betsy first.

And just now that we've had two months to kind of digest this news, where are your thoughts at on Patrick Kane coming back to Chicago and what it's going to bring to the team for the next season or two?

Yeah.

And I think that's why a lot of people just write them off because they can't compare them to like Patrick Sharp or somebody like that.

But to me, Ryan Green is the type of player that does what kind of like Brandon Saad did in his time.

in the sense or even a day bull up and down the lineup where he could be a winger one day playing in the top six he could go down and kill penalties as a part of your bottom six at center you know he was one of their best face-off guys even though he played wing for most of the season yeah i i think if you're really trying to get an apple there's your comparison ron i do think he is a little bit like brandon sod but brandon sod really didn't play much center they tried that experiment but it did not work Where with Ryan Green, we know he can play center.

You need those top elite players of course, a handful of them is always great, um, but they're not really anything without the complementary players, the supporting cast.

Um, as I put it in here, couple examples of former Hawks that have been players like that, Patrick Sharp, Nicklas Johansson, uh, Tony Amonte, and Brian Campbell.

There's a, there's some decent players in here.

In fact, I, I did an event last night and Patrick Sharp, who's part of the development team with the Flyers, when I mentioned some of the young talent, he brought Hunter, Hunter's name up on his own.

So that would indicate to me that he is very much on the radar for management to, to have a chance.

Um, he was, he got a game in the NHL, and he was very [laughs] impressive in that game last year, and I love Hunter McDonald.

Uh, I know they're a different size, but they're both big physical defensemen.

So, um, yeah, you know, uh, he's definitely in there.

I know, uh, again, uh, Patrick Sharp brought his name up last night.

I, I think there's no question that, uh, he's gonna get a look in the shortened, uh, training camp in terms of preseason games.

of starting to compare guys.

Well, this guy is going to be our Hosa, and this guy is going to be our Sharp.

That's the nature of our business,

because... what if you want to call this a business you know you and i we talk about the blackhawks we cover the blackhawks so we always use other blackhawks as our frame of reference truthfully i don't see anton trundell being a jonathan taves as much as i see him being uh alexander barkov but maybe will he be as good as barkov we'll see does he have the game barkov has absolutely but maybe maybe not to the level that barkov has it but still he's in you know it's it's like comparing jonathan tape back in the day he compared jonathan taves to patrice bergeron to anze kopitar they all played that same type of game just you know they all gave you slightly different parts of it and so that's kind of what you see is frondell can be like your young alexander barkov
