Patrick Forquer on Legora’s Agentic AI, Legal Engineering, and Consumption-Based Pricing

So, so the agent in Lagora, like the Agent OS that we launched earlier this year, it can click every button that you can click in the platform, it can click, right? And so it's not just a set of rules that it's following of, like, if this, then do this, if that, then do that, that you have to then go in and, like, edit those rules or that logic within a, within a particular pre-baked package.
P
14:33Patrick ForquerGUEST
With the agent, the, the, the big difference is you're sort of moving from prompt engineering to context engineering, right? So with, with, with, with ag-agentic work, you wanna give it a definable scope.
P
14:46Patrick ForquerGUEST
You also wanna have the data and the sources in, within, uh, made available within the project, within Lagora, so everything that you're gonna be doing is grounded in, in source and, and truth.
P

And then you also wanna have a human in the loop at each step, uh, to sort of customize and make sure everything is working like you, you want it to.

So if you give the agent a goal in, in our system, and then you give it some context of, of that goal around, like, what it is you're trying to do, sort of guardrails and things to watch for, then the agent, our agent's gonna come back and it's gonna ask you some questions, some clarifying questions around, around the scope, around the goal, and it's like, it's gonna look through the documents and make sure it has all the context it needs to, to achieve the goal.

But like Matt Fit- Fitzpatrick, who's like this, um, CEO of Invisible, which is a data provider, and he was like, "Oh, you can't sell into enterprise without FDEs today." Is that true? And when you reflect back on what works in change management, what's the biggest advice?
P
5:57Patrick ForquerGUEST
Yeah, so there's a couple things that are still true, and then I think some things that are different, like in an agentic world.
P
6:01Patrick ForquerGUEST
So the things that are still true is you still need a tremendous amount of executive sponsorship and support.
P
6:06Patrick ForquerGUEST
The joke we used to make when I worked in consulting was the two things people hate the most are the way things are and change.
P
6:14Patrick ForquerGUEST
You need, you know, bottoms up, sort of champion building, all the sort of normal adoption frameworks that you would use in traditional change management.
P
6:20Patrick ForquerGUEST
I think the biggest thing with a- agentic work and why FDEs are required, and we have both forward deploy engineers, but we also have forward deploy legal engineers who are typ- you know, big law attorneys who understand how individual practice areas work within a law firm, as well as how corporate legal departments work within that sort of broader context.
