Patrick deWitt

I loved it.

Dodge City by Patrick DeWitt.

And then a biography of Stephen Hawking.

It's not the first, but if there are any better than this, then I'd be surprised.

But yeah, the subversion of genre leads brilliantly into the next author on the list.

Patrick DeWitt and his novel, The Sisters Brothers.

Yes.

Wilcox also mentions DeWitt's other book, Under Major Domo Minor, but The Sisters Brothers is really where things get wild.

We looked at a 2015 Canada Day list that completely refused to play by the rules of polite exportation.

We saw the wilderness turned into a psychological thriller and a magical realism time machine with Gil Adamson and Martha Bailey.

We saw Patrick DeWitt give us deadpan cowboy slapstick that dismantled the American Western.

Derek McCormick threw out the maple syrup for a gay vampire bat, tailoring rhinestone suits.

There we go

... called Dodge City by Patrick deWitt.

Yes.

This is your crib sheet here.

So he decides to go on a trip across America and find his way to Canada, and, and he will say goodbye to his estranged family members along the way.

And it's a real delight because first of all it's...

Patrick deWitt's a very funny writer, and it's full of warmth.

Bits of his, you know, his family, like all families, are kind of a, a bit messed up.

Yeah.

Dodge City by Patrick DeWitt.

Yes.

Why is

That one is The Unhaunting by Micaiah Johnson.

Then there's Dodge City by Patrick DeWitt.

I love Patrick DeWitt.

Author of six novels, including French Exit, The Sisters Brothers, Under Major Domer Minor.

His last one was The Librarianist, which I loved, and I feel like not as many people were on board with that one.

And it's a story of those relationships and his decision, as well as war and youth and uncertainty and standing up for your beliefs.

I just got the audio from Libro FM, so I'm really looking forward to it.

It is Dodge City by Patrick DeWitt.

yeah anyone else's yeah
