Many drivers were caught by cameras on the side of buses.

Students in the Patchogue-Medford School District are asking drivers to wisen up.

Once I got off the bus, cars think that they could just keep going.

I don't want kids to get hurt.

So we're gonna tell you, whenever you see a stop sign pulled out like this, you do not pass a school bus.

Now, today, the Suffolk County Executive was out here with the police commissioner, along with school officials and students from the Saxton Middle School here in the Patchogue-Medford School District.

They were talking about Operation Safe Stop, stepped-up education and enforcement, as this is National School Bus Safety Week.

Now, Suffolk County has more roads and registered cars than any other county in New York State, so not surprisingly, it leads the way in violations as well.

Teachers were impressed.

Joshua Maines, a fifth grade teacher and Climate Action Club advisor at the Barton Elementary School in the Patchogue-Medford District, said it's a lot more impactful to have that personal experience than to just read about it in a textbook or newspaper.

He called the turbines stunning.

Kelsey Laporte, a library teacher for the Sayville School District, said the experience was, quote, just breathtaking to see the scale of the turbines and The Federation has been working with offshore wind regulators and developers for the past decade to advocate for offshore wind to be developed responsibly.
