Pasturebird
Since 2015, we have become the largest daily-move pastured poultry operation in the world, and we're just getting started. We are building systems that will scale to meet industrial levels, all while sequestering carbon, increasing soil organic matter, giving high welfare to chickens, and producing a delicious and nutrient dense food without antibiotics or drugs. Pastured Poultry = chickens that live outside in a natural habitat (on grass, in the fresh air and sunshine with plenty of space to roam and forage). By rotating the chickens to fresh pasture every single day, Pasturebird chicken is not only healthy and delicious but also goes beyond sustainability to rebuild healthy, regenerative soils and grasslands.www.pasturebird.com

But what does a chicken label really promise? I'm curious to hear your story.
Max LugavereHOST
You've had quite a personal journey that led you to start Pasture Bird.
Max LugavereHOST
Can you walk us through what changed for you?
Paul GreiveGUEST
Absolutely.
Max LugavereHOST
But when you buy chicken labeled organic, free-range, or pasture-raised, what are you actually paying for? And how closely does the picture on the package match the life that the animal lived? Well, today I'm joined by Paul Greive.
Max LugavereHOST
He's a former Marine and co-founder of Pasture Bird.
Max LugavereHOST
Paul, Paul's farming story started with a family conversation and an unexpected order of 50 backyard chickens.
Max LugavereHOST
We get into how that became a mission to make pasture-raised chicken more accessible, what common grocery store labels do and don't tell you, and how a bird's diet and living conditions may influence the meat on your plate.

Oh, God, yeah.
Max LugavereHOST
It's really bad.

So where is Pasture Bird available? I know that you guys are now in retail, which is super exciting.
Paul GreiveGUEST
Yeah, I mean, the big news for us is probably Sprouts.
