Now, if you lived through the 80s, you already know where I'm going with this.

Talking about party all the time from Eddie Murphy's 1985 album, How Could It Be.

By the mid-80s, Eddie, his film career was on the rise, starring roles in 48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop.

This is after he had a successful run on SNL.

So, you know, there's that.

Understandably, Eddie Murphy had a hard time convincing people to take his music career seriously after Boogie In Your Butt.

party all the time, as catchy as it is.

Didn't really make things any easier, but you have to admit, it's a pretty 80s song.

Number two, this is a good one, Joey.

Party All the Time from Eddie Murphy.

Love Party All the Time.

I mean, I, I, I didn't discover it till like the Napster era.

Whoa.

Yeah.

This was actually a weird time because I think, I don't think he did any movies between Beverly Hills Cop and Golden Child, was kind of a blank period for him.

That's where he came out with Party All The Time, but you know, he was still, still huge.

What a Feeling and Every Breath You Take.

Or, at the end of 1985, comedian Eddie Murphy tried his hand at a singing career, and got all the way to number two with the Rick James-produced Party All the Time.

My girl wants to party all the time.

Party all the time.

Party all the time.

My girl wants to party all the time.

His hit got stuck behind the number one Say You, Say Me by Lionel Richie.

Or, in 1987, the New Zealand band Crowded House.

This, this one's funny.

So Party All the Time by Eddie Murphy.

[laughs] I'm laughing already.

[laughs]

[laughs]

I'll go first.

So 1985, Eddie Murphy drops Party All the Time.

Uh, the, the, basically Eddie Murphy's music career mainstream-wise happens because Richard Pryor bet him that he couldn't do it.

the time.

Party all the time.

Party all the time.

And that was a bet.

I was going to be talking all the time.

...

even became a legitimate pop star with Party All the Time.

Cute.

Which finished [laughs] amazingly number seven on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100.
