Park City School District

In just a minute, we'll be checking in with Summit County Council Member Tonya Hansen.

Later on, from the Park City School District, Superintendent of Schools Lyndsay Huntsman and School Board President Meredith Reed.

From the National Ability Center, the Vice President of Development and Events Caitlin Bognowski, telling us about the annual Saluting Our Heroes event.

And from the Wasatch Trails Foundation, Executive Director Mia Yu with details on Saturday's End of Season Shindig.

That is unknown at this point.

Uh, and I'm not gonna comment again or speculate on what may or may not occur.

This is in the hands of DEQ at this point, and the notice of violation is between DEQ and Hogan, not DEQ and Park City School District.

Okay.

Connor Thomas, KPCW News.

Joining us now from the Park City Education Foundation is CEO, uh, Ingrid Whitley and the Park School, Park, ooh, Park City School District's preschool director, Missy Shiobara.

Good morning, ladies.

Thanks for being here.

So, so give us an overview of the program first so people know, like, how many classes we're talking about, how many kids.

So currently we run 15 classes, and about 8 of them are four-year-olds, and the rest are three-year-olds.

And so we have about 212 students right now attending Park City School District Preschool in all four elementaries.

And is 212, is that a high number? Is that the average number that you see every year, or is it growing?

Newstime 8:43.

Well, a state investigation found a Park City School District contractor illegally discharged at least a half-million gallons of contaminated water from a construction site last year.

KPCW's Christine Weller has this update.

Utah water regulators say Hogan and Associates Construction illegally dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of groundwater last year, despite being told the water was contaminated and dewatering required a permit.

Hogan is the contractor building the Park City School District's Treasure Mountain Sports Complex on Kearns Boulevard, where the discharges occurred.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality issued a notice of violation and compliance order to the contractor September 2nd after a nearly year-long investigation.

The school district and Hogan previously admitted to one day of illegal dumping on October 10th, 2025.
