Then why wouldn't just the essence of what's inside the entities be reborn and they find another host? I don't think that's that clean.

And of course, considering we have 55 Parallaxes still flying around and Teemu Parallax, nothing is clean about that aspect of it, but, but moving, moving off that.

Sinestro follows them and then in kind of a crazy twist, Sinestro and his goons are killed and Hal is revealed to be Parallax or have been infected with Parallax.

And I know this seems ridiculous because comic fans are notoriously forgiving and empathetic people who definitely don't hold grudges against people, real or fictional.

So how did he manage to do that? Through Green Lantern Rebirth and retconning what exactly Parallax is.

What are your general thoughts on Green Lantern Rebirth? And was it easy to follow along with as a new reader?

It was certainly that and Recharge were the two most difficult things to read this week for me.

Once we got into the main series of each book, I really started to cook.

We talked a little bit about Parallax, and the retcon, just to make everything clear, was that when the original Emerald Twilight event happened, Hal Jordan was being fueled completely by grief.

He wanted to remake Coast City, but the Guardians told him that was not allowed and an inappropriate use of his ring.

The, my difficulty with the characterization was down to the writing in terms of like I feel like we never got around to why...

Is it just because of age why he is so kind of hard to take down? Like I really thought that they were g- leaning towards, "Well, you guys know about Parallax," so something has clearly happened and he's darker.

No, he's just older, and maybe that was the ultimate reason why he was so kind of prickly, because-

I think they do, and the other problem is you have all this lore from Geoff Johns with Parallax and Hal and, you know, not just Geoff Johns but Ron Mars also, um, who put that idea of Hal going bad out into the, the nether, you know, 40 years ago or whatever, 35 years ago, and it's like, so we know that's there as comic fans, and you're gonna ...

You're not gonna hint at it.

OK, what was the connection?

He revealed that Parallax was never just a cool villain name for Hal.

Parallax was actually an ancient parasitic yellow alien entity made of pure fear.

It had been imprisoned inside the central power battery for millennia, which caused the ring's yellow impurity.

When Hal was grieving, that yellow fear entity infected his mind and possessed him.

Um, so we have a beginning, just kind of voiceover explaining the Green Lan- what the Green Lanterns are.

Parallax, AKA basically fear, is their biggest enemy.

Okay.

And so they said, and that starts at Planet Oa.

But Armand Sur, he's basically, he's a lantern, he's in the sector that includes Earth.

He's gonna be the precursor to Hal.

He's kinda like sees the emergence of the threat of Parallax, and-

Is that the one where they're on a planet that looks kinda like the moon, and they, the Parallax gets undone or whatever?
