Martin ParsonsGUEST
7:54
But it would have been interesting to have another season post-trial with Colin and Bonnie Langford would have been great.
DylanHOST
7:59
Yeah, I could have seen him in Delta and the Bannermen and maybe Dragonfire, but I don't know whether I could see him in Paradise Towers or, as you say, Time and Nirvana.
DylanHOST
8:08
Yeah, I guess maybe
Martin ParsonsGUEST
8:09
Delta, although Delta and the Bannermen for me is where mccoy everything comes together about mccoy's performances so so it's sort of yeah i feel like it would kind of break my heart for that not to be mccoy but i guess yeah story-wise colin could definitely carry that off and it would actually be quite nice for him to get the relationship with ray and that sort of gentle aside in there as well would be really nice for him to do and dragonfly yeah i partly i guess because glitz is in it he could he could do dragonfire pretty well just being a bit angrier all the way through
Paul ArthurGUEST

My name is Paul and I am here with Mr. Joe Ford to talk about part three of the, I was going to say the Happiness Patrol again, I almost said it again, Joe.
Paul ArthurGUEST
0:50
It's Paradise Towers.
Paul ArthurGUEST
0:52
Good evening, Joe.
Paul ArthurGUEST
0:52
How are you? Soon, soon I shall be free.
Joe FordHOST
1:08
Yeah,
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:09
I don't know what it is, but it is like a mental thing.
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:11
And I want to sing Happiness Patrol when I'm in Paradise Towers.
Joe FordHOST
1:15
I mean, I just I can't tell the difference between a man made out of licorice all sorts and a man Richard Bryce covered in silver paint either.
Tom NeenanGUEST
54:37
Here's what I think is good.
Joe FordHOST
54:38
Don't choose Paradise Towers.
Joe FordHOST
54:40
I did that with my friend Hazel.
Joe FordHOST
54:42
And at the end of episode one, she said, I think I'm done.

10 MINS LATER

Tom NeenanGUEST
64:55
I mean, Jesus
Joe FordHOST
64:55
Christ.
Joe FordHOST
64:55
Briars in Paradise Towers? I mean, come on now.
Tom NeenanGUEST
64:59
Did somebody mention From Marcy? Yeah, yeah.
Jim BeardHOST
32:22
Yeah, yeah.
John S. DrewHOST
32:25
He was Gilbert M in Paradise Towers.
Jim BeardHOST
32:29
Was he? Yes.
Jim BeardHOST
32:31
Okay.
BenHOST
29:19
So talking about the polls in Doctor Who magazine, Silver Nemesis was ranked number nine of 12 in 2023.
BenHOST
29:30
Right above Paradise Towers and right below Dragonfire.
BenHOST
29:36
And in 2014, it was number eight.
BenHOST
29:40
In 2009, it was number eight.
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:07
[laughs] Good evening, Joe.
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:10
Uh, lovely to be back again, and lovely to be walking the, the halls of Paradise Towers.
Joe FordHOST
1:15
Indeed.
Joe FordHOST
1:16
I mean, uh, you know, last time we were trying to determine whether this was social commentary, character drama, comedy, horror.
Joe FordHOST
1:52
You did.
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:52
Oh, maybe it was, maybe it was subconscious then.
Paul ArthurGUEST
1:54
Uh, but you put that tune in my head and you've moved out the, the cleaner music from Par- uh, from Paradise Towers.
Paul ArthurGUEST
2:01
So, um-
Paul ArthurGUEST
5:11
And, and they're both very, very studio bound, which I know is something you've mentioned with your slight dislike of, um, uh, The Happiness Patrol.
Paul ArthurGUEST
5:20
Don't know how you feel about Paradise Towers yet when we get to that, but...
Joe FordHOST
5:24
Can I jump into that now?
Paul ArthurGUEST
5:26
Yeah, go for it.

7 MINS LATER

Paul ArthurGUEST
12:39
Um, I liked Bonnie's performance in this.
Paul ArthurGUEST
12:42
Um, I thought, yeah, and, and I really enjoyed it.
Paul ArthurGUEST
12:45
And I f- and I thought that I, when I'd heard about this as a story, you talked about how grimy the sets are and stuff, I, I kind of figured when I heard the premise of what Paradise Towers was gonna be, I was thinking automatically, "Oh, they're gonna fudge this.
Paul ArthurGUEST
12:58
It's not gonna be grimy, it's not gonna be dirty.
BenHOST
11:42
And I think it succeeds in a lot of ways.
BenHOST
11:46
This is a very similar story to Paradise Towers in many ways.
BenHOST
11:52
And I think it succeeds in a lot of ways that Paradise Towers did not.
CamHOST
11:56
Yeah, Happiness Patrol is a better story than Paradise Towers.
CamHOST
12:00
I think partly because Helen A. Sheila Hancock's performance is stronger than the villain of Paradise Towers.
CamHOST
12:10
And the Candyman is a more interesting villain and character than anything in Paradise Towers.
BenHOST
12:17
Yeah, similar themes, I feel.
BenHOST
12:21
Similar setting.
Jim BeardHOST
12:39
yeah every once in a while and and that's what and that's almost hard to take like where do these almost genius you know stories where does battlefield come from up against uh happy menace patrol and the greatest show in the galaxy and yes i'm speaking for myself right You know, I just don't get that.
Jim BeardHOST
13:03
Where does it come out? Where does it come out of in in relation to Paradise Towers or Dragonfire? Yeah, it wasn't very encouraging those first two seasons.
Jim BeardHOST
13:13
And I said, this is a real roller coaster.
Jim BeardHOST
13:15
Thank goodness there was only one to me bad story in the third season.
Jim BeardHOST
13:21
And that was Ghost Light.
Jim BeardHOST
13:23
Otherwise, I'm 15, 13 and 12.
John S. DrewHOST
13:28
And you wouldn't say ghost light was bad necessarily the way paradise towers was bad.
John S. DrewHOST
13:33
Cause you gave it a better rating.
Joe FordHOST
5:08
Oh
Mark RawlinsGUEST
5:08
... of Paradise Towers.
Joe FordHOST
5:09
This is the picture of Sarah Sutton in her new costume, which Sandra Dickinson didn't like at all, and I told her to leave the studio.
Joe FordHOST
5:18
[laughs]
