Pär Lagerkvist

So anyways, I think it is incredibly hard to, for us all to admit our own foibles and failings as human beings, uh, uh, to, to really admit what it is to be a human.

Uh, and this Nobel winner, Pär Lagerkvist-

Mm

... um, what does it say? He won the Nobel in 1951.

Barabas, directed by Richard Fleischer, is a sweeping biblical epic that delves into the life of the titular character, a thief and murderer who was spared crucifixion in place of Jesus Christ.

Released in 1961, this film is based on the novel by Nobel Prize winning author Per Lagerqvist and features a star-studded cast led by Anthony Quinn.

The movie explores Barabbas' journey through a life marked by turmoil and spiritual questioning, set against the backdrop of early Christianity and Roman rule.

The film opens with the dramatic scene of Pontius Pilate offering the crowd a choice between freeing Jesus or Barabbas.
