Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne

I'm Emmanuel Kattan.

I head the Alliance Programme, a partnership between Columbia University and three French universities, Sciences Po, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and École Polytechnique.

every episode, I sit down face-to-face with, or as we say in French, vis-à-vis, some of the most insightful thinkers on both sides of the Atlantic.

I hope you enjoy our conversation.

There's an awkward implication for the 2027 budget too.

Economist François Fachini of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne expects whichever government takes office after 2027 to pass a corrective budget anyway.

In other words, the budget being debated right now may only last a few months in its current form and Brussels is watching.

France has been under the EU's excessive deficit procedure for two years and is committed to getting the deficit below 3% by 2029.
