Today, I bring you a conversation with Elyse Rivin of Toulouse Guided Walks about two women honored in the Panthéon, Geneviève de Gaulle-Anthonioz, who was the niece of Charles de Gaulle, the president, and ethnologist Germaine Tillion.

Both were arrested as Resistance fighters, survived deportation to Ravensbrück, and spent the rest of their lives fighting poverty, torture, and injustice.

It's a hard story, but one worth knowing.

We have a topic today that's going to be a bit difficult because it's about two women who we want to honor because they are both in the Panthéon-

They become-- They go off, and, and they make their lives.

I think-- I mean, the children have come much more to the fore recently, Kate, because in 2021, President Macron decided to recognize Josephine Baker, uh, by making her-- giving her the top national tribute by having her ashes symbolically moved to the Pantheon, which is like a kind of mausoleum in Paris, where mainly men of French society are celebrated by being buried there.

And in 2021, Macron, with the support of the family, and the family does all come together to support this move because it's a great honor-

Et c'est là qu'ont été célébrés les obsèques de Jean de La Fontaine.

C'est aussi dans cette église que se trouvait la dépouille de Mirabeau avant d'être transférée au Panthéon.

À elle seule, cette église nous fait faire un grand tour de l'histoire de France.

Félicia et moi n'étions pas là par hasard, mais parce que dans cette église se trouvait suspendue une œuvre d'art contemporain de la peintre et sculptrice Lydie Arix, un corail monumental sous la forme d'une plaque d'aluminium sculptée au laser de sept mètres de haut, rouge vif, suspendu dans la nef de l'église.

Colbert, Scaramouche, Marivaux ou encore Jean-Philippe Rameau y ont été inhumés.
