Palisade

I'm screaming my brains out.

I finally end up running into the back of a cop car, um, on I-70 heading west just outside of Palisade, Colorado, heading into Grand Junction.

And I tap into the back of this cop.

I drop back, and I end up passing that cop at 130.

... over the...

I love a peach.

Over the summer, I also went to a place near Utah that kind of borders Utah called Palisades, Colorado, that is famous for peaches, and everything was peach.

Peach jam, peach wine, peach-

I love it

And then we divert the water, and then we put a diversion ditch a little bit flatter than the slope of the river, so we're able to raise the water up to a higher level up into our streams and things.

And here in Palisade, I'm part of the Orchard Mesa irrigation system where we pump the water.

We use 75% of the water to turn turbines.

They're hydraulic pumps.

in irrigation, and you've kind of changed, I think it's fascinating, and of course, unless you're out in the fields, you may not be driving by, but you've seen different, sometimes you see maybe like a pipe or a hose going down the field, but you've kind of changed your philosophy kind of back to the water conservation on how you actually irrigate the vineyards.

yeah we use uh sprinklers which is uh you can do you can two ways everything used to be fur irrigation where you uh you dug a ditch and uh there's different definitions of fur irrigation but Around here, what it is, we dig a small ditch on each side of the row or each side of the grape plants and we just actually just run water in a little ditch that's so close to the plant that the water soaks in and that's how we irrigate it.

But what we've done on all my personal property and the majority of the property in the Palisade area, we have sprinkler systems nowadays.

And it's just like your yard, when you turn that water on, it just sprinkles the whole yard at one time.

So the whole place is abuzz.

We just offloaded about 60,000 pounds of peaches from Palisade, Colorado.

So the whole place smells like peaches.

I wish I could share the aroma with you.

So what we do, you know, we have our planning out.

Usually they have an idea as to what's going on about 30 days out and they do their level best to try and hit it.

But for example, I-70, so it's Palisade, Colorado is, you know, up past Dale on the very somewhat well-known I-70.

It's the only major federal highway.
