Pakistan Super League

Slim Shady.

When you guys beat Multan in the PSL final, he was on the plane and people just chant, the whole plane was chanting, Shady, Shady.

That's only one time.

We always start with the beard.

Maybe I can now.

And then you grow as a player and confidence, and then all of a sudden, 10 years later, you're the senior player.

My confidence was so high when I started bowling to Kumar Sangakkara in PSL.

When I deceived him a couple of balls, and I was like, oh.

Yeah.

But you can't say that, you know, now we've also got Pakistan Super League, but what else is around it?

Yeah.

And who's re- in Pakistan Super League, if it survives-

But they're not getting results, uh-

... only on the overseas players

Oi.

PSL, Pakistan 2016.

Abu Dhabi T10 2017.

Other.

There are gonna be some bumps in the road for NOCs going forward, because there's a certain former England captain who might want an NOC to go and play in Pakistan and in America in the next, in the sh- in the not so distant future, who might get refused, and that then gets blown up.

So there could be some troubling times for the, uh, the, the NOC brigade for the ECB, and I think the Afghanistan bit might just be a little bit of a drop in the ocean compared to what Ben Stokes might want if he decides that he wants to play in the Pakistan Super League, the American MLC, and also try and win the championship for Durham next year.

Don't think he can do all three, and that is gonna be a, a tasty battle.

Right.

It is, by IPL standards, a normal Wednesday evening.

That same week, in the PSL 2026 final, the Hyderabad Kingsmen posted 129.

Peshawar Zalmi lost 5 wickets while chasing down this modest total.

Same format, same 20 overs, same white ball, but a completely different game.

Instead, we serve you slow-cooked content that is healthy for the mind and therapeutic for your soul.

I am Apoorva Tal Luri, your host.

While the PSL was born 8 years after the IPL, by 2020 to 2021, it had caught up with the IPL, batting-wise.

In between 2020 and 2023, the PSL actually started outdoing the IPL when it came to average first-inning scores and run rates.

That is very good news.

[laughs] Um, but they basically, the ECB don't want him to leave, um, Durham this summer 'cause he wants to go play for, um, the Major League Cricket and Pakistan Super League.

Why, how can they control that?

Uh, so they have to provide a no objection certificate to play in those, um, competitions.

Just saying no to guys going to play in these tournaments isn't necessarily the answer as well.

I think if there are some young cricketers there who have an opportunity to go and play, whether it be the PSL or the IPL, they're going to learn more in that four weeks than a whole pre-season at home.

That's happening

now.
