Yeah, obviously the game started up, or the first kind of recorded games were with, you know, Māori tamariki up in Paihia in the 1800s.

Fishing was a dim and distant memory and then in my kind of early mid-20s I moved to New Zealand and after a season in Whakapapa snowboarding I found myself in Paihia for the summer and yeah I got myself a sea kayak guiding job there and just kind of got into fishing then and I remember staying in a backpackers in Paihia and there was I think a Danish guy there that I was kind of sharing a dorm with initially and he was just mad about snapper fishing.

I like, he was just, Oh man, he just like, I couldn't, I just didn't get it.

It's isolated though, that's its only downfall for me.

I love Paihia.
