So they organized a meetup.

And recently, some of the world's top surfers gathered in Northern California, and they happened to be dogs.

That's right, it was the annual World Dog Surfing Championships in Pacifica, California.

Dogs jumped on surfboards and rode the waves, and it's just not like random casual dogs.

This is a competition.

And then another Scot to design Sharp Park.

Just steps from the ocean in Pacifica.

And that Scot being Alister MacKenzie.

MacKenzie is most famous for having designed Augusta in Georgia, where the Masters is played.

The municipal courses are so important because it's hard to get access to a country club, or even be accepted

In fact, golf wasn't even racially integrated until the 1950s, and Bay Area municipal courses had a role in that, too.
