They've done a really nice job in the past with getting these sort of mid-major players and pulling them into UNC.

Guys like Jake Schaffner, Owen Hull from last year's draft.

So I think players like that who are going out and performing and you're getting a little bit of a taste of what they do well Um, I'm also thinking of a guy like Jack Omen who was exceptional as a freshman with Yale and maybe didn't pitch quite as good as he did as a freshman during his sophomore year.

And then there's a maybe about that.

Again, not the most professional of me, but need to make sure my numbers aren't too off, because it's been a couple days since I got the stats down, so they could be different, and I don't want to be too off on it.

But, again, Jake Schaffner, Owen Hull, our first two picks in the draft, and they've both gotten off to great starts in their young career.

And we're never going to nail it as an industry.

But what if I told you that Jake Schaffner, Owen Hull, and Eric Paulson weren't on that list?

Yeah.

Crazy, right?

Yeah.

Jake Schaffner had himself a year.

Well, Owen Hull had one of the greatest RBI seasons in the history of our sport, if you ask me.

I mean, he drove in over 80 runs with less than 10 homers.

Good to see him go out here and make a bang.

And the Red Sox, Owen Hull, who I feel like kind of falls through the cracks when we're talking about guys they picked up this year.

Drafted 67th overall by them.

Had a walk-off double.

Going down to Greenville is one of my favorite, favorite trips of the year, so it was...

That worked out well in the sense that I got to see the Red Sox first two picks there, Jake Schaffner and Owen Hull, and was hoping to see, and scheduled at base to see Brock Chelowski also.

And then Brock did not play, um, his season, and they announced it finally on Saturday, something that seemed inevitable when he, after they kept pushing back the return date.

They have shut him down for the season with, uh, wrist soreness.

Like, you don't weigh that more than you do the previous three months for Velasquez, or four months for Velasquez, I should say.

But what is it that can be pulled from what we've seen so far with these draftees?

Um, I, I think the first thing is just, just getting to see how their swings and things like that translate against professional pitching, and I think someone I saw last week, Owen Hull, is a really good example of that.

'Cause Hull was someone who had some ground ball issues in college, and it's been magnified, I think, in the pros so far.

Uh, sometimes to his detriment, but, uh, looks really exciting.

And, you know, Owen Hull suddenly back throwing 95, 96 mile per hour sinkers and, and breaking off pretty good sliders-

Mm-hmm

... and looking like, "Okay, this is workable, so here we go." I will say-

To me, the story of this rankings update is just the effect of the trades and adding the draftees is, is really the bigger deal.

Um, and you know, at, at the site for, for us, um, you know, with the draftees who came in, we had Jake Schaffner entered at six and Owen Hull entered at eight.

Both of those guys were already in Greenville and playing.

They both enter in that kind of, you know, 45 projection tier on the 20/80 scale.
