If you're at Netflix size, the margin AWS are making out of you are very, very low.

For the very simple reason that, well, if you're looking at lower tier providers like Hetzner, for example, a German provider, or OVH, or any of the smaller providers, you can get things there at a third to 50% of the price of AWS.

For certain things like bandwidth, you can get bandwidth at around 2% of the price you're getting at AWS.

2%.

First, when the tech sovereignty package in New York came out, there was a reaction from immediately of several European actors to also consider partnerships, either partnerships between themselves.

So, for instance, there's one which post-Luxembourg and OVH in France entered into in order to provide certain services to the European Commission in line with the requirements.

So this is one option or others teamed up with big mega companies for certain projects.

So there are these partnerships evolving.

So all of the clients are running Tailscale.

The site-to-site stuff from the travel router and from my off-site box in OVH is still WireGuard.

But the UniFi one, I've just been using Teleport, which is UniFi's proprietary WireGuard implementation.

And that's really nice because I open the UniFi app on my phone, I connect, and then it handles all of the authentication and key exchange and everything for me.

So I've got three sites that are all running UniFi stuff and they're using UniFi's, they call it site fabric, but they just handle the key exchange for you effectively.

The places where I am still using WireGuard are the things that aren't UniFi gateways.

So the box that I've got in OVH sits behind a PFSense, for example.

So that just WireGuard's back and the travel router clearly isn't going to use UniFi's proprietary thing.

And so that's always been a part of the conversation for us, uh, and, and a very important one.

Uh, and, uh, so right now we're set up, we're on, uh, a ser- a provider called OVHcloud.

It is a Canadian subsidiary of a French company, so, and we're operating off of open source, uh, cloud, and so we are effectively not subject to US law.

Um, there's some argument to be made that in the event of an issue with France that there, you know, there could be a problem.

But the U.S. agency now wants to verify the process and technical data Tesla used to justify that certification.

Canada is publishing new principles to guide the development of data centers in the country with the support of 23 companies, including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Meta, OVHcloud, and AWS.

The government wants to prevent this infrastructure from driving up electricity bills, limit their water consumption, and demand more transparency regarding their local impact.
