Over-the-Rhine

Man.

I was taking the Cincinnati Underground Tour over the Rhine neighborhood, which is a historical landmark, actually.

And one of the places we went to is a defunct goth and S&M bar that is now...

Well, it's no longer there.

Cincinnati is a horribly German town.

We have the largest Oktoberfest outside of Munich, Germany.

And over the Rhine neighborhood used to be where all the beer distilleries were up until Prohibition time.

So the entire neighborhood has sub-basements that roam underneath that are these huge brick-and-mortar old places where beer was made and they're actually starting to bring back some of that industry but anyway so when you walk in into just the ground level of this building it is all painted painted black and there is that what used to be dark white paint all over and the floor is black and you can't see where you're going and then you walk up a flight of stairs which wasn't open to the public before and then you're voila you're in this 19th century beer garden and as it was in 1890.

That's in a northern suburb in what we call Blue Ash.

We also have two Alcove locations, one in Over the Rhine, which is downtown area, and one is in Blue Ash in Summit Park, which is neighbors with our Parks and Rec location.

Alcove is much more, it's more of a occasion-based date night, girl night kind of space.

Parks and Rec is super family oriented.

And they take you around the Over-the-Rhine and into the Loggering Tunnels.

And it was just, it was a really fun way to spend the afternoon.

But while the Cincinnati tunnel solved a practical problem in the fact that beer needed to stay cold, our next stop had solved a little bigger problem.

Yeah, well, they changed, so they have a location downtown by the ballpark, and they've changed their beer styles a few times.

At one point, when they started there, it was OTR for Over the Rhine, and then they changed it to Moorline, and then just a couple of months ago, in fact, it's been recent, where they're now the Lagerhaus.

And they are brewing, it's my understanding they're brewing their own beer, but they're also doing some collabs with some of the breweries in that area.

My family is from, um, Cincinnati.

Um, so we had been coming back and watching the kind of evolution of what, uh, OTR was at the time.

You know, when I grew up there, you didn't go downtown, right?

Yeah.

Yeah

... kind of been viewed as that.

Like, so, so in 2018 when we opened Crown Republic, we opened it in the side of town, not OTR.

It was called the business district.

It's unknown how the children got through.
