Ottawa Gee-Gees

There's no GGs near it because they're coming from the other side of the field as well.

Two plays, touchdown, two blocked punts in a row as well for Queens after that on the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

So that special teams factor of being so attention to detail, so focus oriented, like something small like...

Hey, they like to keep these guys on the boundary and these guys on the field.

This is Jesse Bell with your CFRC Power Plays Sports Report.

After an exhilarating 41-20 home victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees, the Queen's Golden Gales must now set their sights on a historic rival and a team currently sitting one space ahead of them on the OUA playoff standings.

The Gales will travel to London on Saturday, October 3rd for a much-anticipated matchup with the Western Mustangs.

This will be the first meeting between these two programs in the Michael Falds era.

This is Jesse Bell with your sports report brought to you by CFRC Power Plays.

The Queens Golden Gales played host to the 3-1 Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday, September 26th at Richardson Memorial Stadium in a game that had massive playoff implications.

The Gales got things rolling early with special teams as No. 17 Matt Driver would kick a single point to the back of the end zone to give Queens a 1-0 lead.

The Gales would have an opportunity to put more points on the board early in the first quarter, but it would take a record-breaking performance from No. 42 Tyler Mullen to accomplish that, as they had him line up for a career-high 55-yard field goal, which would be easily the longest of his career.

Queens completely controlled the second half, adding two more touchdowns on the ground courtesy of Jaden Gersey McDonald, as well as an Alex Vraken touchdown to number 13 Logan Walton, moving Walton past the 500-yard threshold and giving him five receiving touchdowns over the last three games.

It ended up being a dominant 41-20 victory for the Queens Golden Gales, moving them to 4-0 for the first time since the 2021 COVID restart season.

It also extends their winning streak over the Ottawa Gee-Gees to nine consecutive games dating back to that 2021 COVID season.

Queens prepares for a major road trip against their longest team, Most hated, and certainly most successful rival, the Western Mustangs.

It was a great ballgame, but I think we can move on from this one.

We have the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Guelph Griffin.

We have the Ottawa Gee-Gees And the Guelph-Griffins-Ottawa, another one of those 3-0 teams heading into this weekend.

That is no longer as the Guelph-Griffins top the GGs in a 31-28 ballgame.

In a game where Guelph got the lead early, Wade, and just really never let go in this one whatsoever.

You play Guelph to a close win.

And then you just lose on a missed field goal to the Ottawa GGs, a team that's 3-0 and looks really good.

I think more so that is why these guys are still in the top 10.

But nonetheless, it gives us a matchup between two ranked OUA schools.

Generalities here.

But speaking of guys that you have to lean on, I'm going to go to the Ottawa side of the ball here.

As Kamara has just been a workhorse in the backfield at the running back position for the Ottawa GGs this year.

One of the leading rushers in the OUA.

But certainly all these emotions and this upsetting information out of that program has played a big factor, I think we can safely say, in the last couple weeks.

But we will move on now to your alma mater, the Ottawa Gee-Gees, who are, in fact, 3-0.

And Connor? I'm going to put you on the spot here because you kept saying to me, I've seen this before with Ottawa.

Just wait.

Just wait.

We have not seen the real Ottawa yet.

They now play the Laurier Golden Hawks, who were in the last two or three Yates Cup finals.

I know it's a new group, a new set of coaches and players and the whole line, but you're Ottawa GGs, Connor.

Connor O'Neill, Wade Zanchetta, the alumni bowl of Connor.

We will talk about that one later on, but I am glad we did not put anything on that between the two of us because your Ottawa GGs certainly went to town on the Toronto Varsity Blues in that one.

But we got some games that we talked about, a lot of really good games, obviously with the nightcap being our focal point with the Western Mustangs.

Yeah, we'll start there, right? We previewed that one as the game of the week this week.

But Wade, you left it for last.

We have to talk about it now.

The Ottawa GGs taking a 44 to 3 win.

over your Toronto varsity blues.

Yeah, certainly some growing pains maybe going forward in week one to two for Windsor here, but a hot start for the McMaster Marauders getting off to that 1-0 that they wanted.

Let's go to the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Waterloo Warriors in Nick Orr's return to the field.

Great start for him, almost willing his team to a week one win, but those Gee-Gees, first horse out of the gate, they're starting 1-0 in 2026 this season.

Now, I know the talk is about Jansen going for a ton of yardage.

So this is a tough one to try to clean up against with Western, but got to do it if you want to keep them out of the end zone.

But let's move on here, unless you have anything to add with that game.

We'll go chronologically now, starting with the 1 p.m. matchup between the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Fun one for us.
