Otis Taylor

Javon Walker, 2006 Broncos on there.

Otis Taylor of the Super Bowl four winning champion Chiefs.

James Arthur Monk of the 1984 Washington Skins.

Whenever you're on a graphic with our monk, you've done something in life.

Hmm.

Come to think of it, I'm going to assume that Tyler's character's name, Derek Taylor, is an intentional combination of the players Derek Thomas and Otis Taylor, both Chief's Hall of Famers.

Oh, I thought you were gonna say Taylor Swift, what I just said a few minutes ago.

So I don't know if the origin of those names has anything to do with that, but this is, like this is why you need like a, a sports fan who knows all these, an encyclopedia of knowledge-

like, you had number 89 for the Chiefs.

That's Otis Taylor, and you named him Smith.

Like, no. It's going back.

Len Dawson didn't wear 13.

This guy looked like he was emerging as a real weapon, a real threat, and, and now to have him go down, what do they lose with, with, you know, him not being ready to go?

Well, they, they lo- they're losing Otis Taylor's yards per, per catch, right? I mean, this guy's near 20 yards per catch.

It's unheard of in the league now.

I know it's only 11 catches, but to me, that's a big, big deal to lose the deep threat when we're already concerned about the receiver thing, the receiver position.

'Cause he w- you don't go from a fifth round r- wide receiver who's mostly a returner into one of the best wide receivers, if not the best wide receiver in Kansas City Chiefs history.

So I say they bring him in, him or Otis Taylor.

That's basically all you have to choose from.

I was just, I was just, I was doing the w- I mean, i- disrespectful not to even mention Duane Bo, but I hear you.

It is what it is.

Otis Taylor kind of gets thin after that for the Chiefs.

Thankfully, they have Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez and future Hall of Famer Travis Kelsey.

To the Indianapolis Colts, really fun receiving rooms.

Trying to like decapitate him.

And then the Chiefs end up getting the penalty because Otis Taylor comes in to protect his quarterback.

And I thought, I don't like this team.

And I'll never like this team.

One thing

that I've always been impressed about you is getting the big picture.

If I walked the former wide receivers in this room, Chris Burford, Otis Taylor, down through the years, they would talk to you about Raiders week.

Mm-hmm.
