Otis Gibbs

I'll rewind.

The last thing that I really enjoy is my friend Otis Gibbs, who's a folk singer, who I met when he was at Surf Records, Blind Otis and the Lost Highway.

He was from Wanamaker originally, which is out where I'm from, out that way.

We've known each other over the years, and I don't remember what happened.

We have the funeral.

A couple months later, I'm scrolling through YouTube, uh, one night and I saw, uh, I saw, uh, Kenny Vaughan on, uh, Otis Gibbs, and he was talking about how, uh, you know, how great, uh, Jerry Lee was.

And I'm like, man, y- you know, 'cause my uncle was telling me about this too.

And so I went and I started checking out, you know, s- uh, you know, what like Jerry Lee's, uh, uh, country albums, and it was, it was like holy shit.

Um, and I think you see that in other musicians like Larry Campbell, like you said, like they're, they're side by side on this road together and they're doing the same thing, looking at Bob on stage, seeing where the beat is taking him night by night and like, working together in that rather than maybe being intimidated, looking up to him too much, et cetera.

Yeah, I think, yeah, and also shout out to the great recent Larry Campbell interview that he did with Otis Gibbs.

I'll link to that in the show notes.

Beautiful.
