Osmocote

I think it may be slightly starved of nitrogen in the last month too, as some of the older leaves are yellowing a little and I think it's been creating more roots looking for nutrients.

Mm-hmm.

So my summation of that is they put some five or six month long-term feed.

The only thing that you have to be aware of are when temperatures get cooler you want to make sure that you have it under uh protection so again if there's any chance of frost you want to make sure that you're covering uh your tropical plants your your um christmas cactus that type of thing because you don't want it to be damaged in any way but um that cooler that cooling effect really really helps with the the bud set so do be aware of that It is also the last month, September typically is the last month to feed your houseplants.

And this is not, if you're an Osmocote user, that is a long lasting granule food.

So I wouldn't recommend Osmocote, but if you use water soluble foods, that type of thing, liquid fertilizers on your houseplants, September would be the last time to do that.

So just be aware of that.

And then also for those of you that grow raspberries, blackberries, we're doing a lot of harvesting this month as well.

Uh, yeah, I do know that there could be ammonia in there and I don't fear it.

I mean, there's, there's literally people putting Osmocote into their substrates, which is balls of ammonia.

So, uh, everything needs to eat.

And as long as, as long as things eating it faster than we're supplying it, no matter if it's food, if it's ammonia, if it's anything, you know, balance is the key.

There's nothing left in that potting soil.

So we fertilize with an Osmocote tablet.

All of our plants get it's slow release.

It doesn't have the runoff.

We're

ladies.

So if I went to, which I do, go buy some potting soil, chances are I'm buying nothing and I should just buy separately Osmocote to add myself.

I like the green cap formulation, okay?

We'll be putting further investment into our Fibregrow.

Big thing coming up, uh, uh, is the biodegradable Osmocote.

You know, that's been trialed extensively across Europe and now across the UK and Ireland this year with multiple trials on the ground.

The trials are very successful to date.

Um, now since you joined in 2021, what, what specific products has ICL introduced into Ireland?

Uh, the big change and introduction would be actually growing media.

ICL would be in the market, you know, for a long, long time around controlled nutrition with Osmocote.

Um, but in, in 2019, 2020, a, a hole developed in the market where the biggest manufacturer exited, which was my former company, Bord na Móna.

Okay.

I'll put a bit of Osmocote around the trunks, too.

Is that, will that hurt it?

No, that won't hurt at all, but it's a bit slow.

The rain washes out that, you know, fertilizer, all those nutrients that you're providing that plant.

So again, you know, feed with Osmocote or Plantone to keep things growing and being productive.

Now, if you've kind of already done that mid, you know, summer feeding process, that's okay um you know you've done that but if if things like i said are looking tired you could always use a liquid food so you know something that um is water soluble if you want to like jacks for example miracle grow those types of things or you could do um organics that are going to be maybe a concentrate that you would go ahead and and dilute in water and then Give them a liquid food that would give them a really quick feeding versus adding Osmocote on top of Osmocote.

That's not necessarily helpful.

So do think about that out there in the garden as you're looking around.

And one of them we did nothing with, and they have blue.

The other two...

We treat it with Osmocote, and I also trimmed them down to about a foot and no blooms.
