It reminds me of, sorry to bring in A Christmas Carol and Ebenezer Scrooge, but when Ebenezer Scrooge sees his own headstone, he says, "Are these shadows of things that might be or shadows of things that must be?"

Do you remember Orson F. Whitney, when he was on his mission, had a dream where he saw the Savior in Gethsemane.

In the dream, he sees the Savior in Gethsemane, and he's upset that Peter, James, and John are asleep.

In this dream, as he's looking at what's happening, the Savior looks at him and ends up, like the next section of the dream, he's with Jesus.

Okay.

He starts with a question.

And they'll have an experience or a thought or an impression or whatever.

Or as Orson F. Whitney talks about, the tentacles of reaching out and trying to bring you back.

But those things that you have said, much like Alma the Younger, can have an enormous negative impact.

Elder Orson F. Whitney wrote, No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted.

It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude, and humility.

All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God.
