Hi, my name's Helen Williams and I'm a Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at the University of Worcester.

All right, let's get into it.

I want to start off with a little bit of background on the project.

What happens when we view the workplace not just as this, you know, economic engine, but as an actual psychological ecosystem?

Well, that right there is the core of organizational behavior, or OB.

It is the systematic study of how individuals and groups act within the organizations where they work.

Okay, so how do they actually study that?

But the individual level of analysis, like the daily psychological toll, the stress, the burnout, was notoriously high.

You can build a thriving economic machine with a punishing individual environment.

But as a student of OB, the question isn't just, does it make money?

Right.

So even if they could get them to their region, there's no housing in many of these regions for those essential workers.

Libby Sanders is an Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour and says workplaces are also trying to look at ways to stop employees from overworking.

So around 50% of Australian employees report being burnt out and so I guess there's been a lot of focus in research in the last few years on this topic and how we can address that issue, get more employee engagement and get more productivity.

Professor Sanders says there are challenges to a four-day work week in whatever configuration.
