So if you could, just why is it important from your perspective that Congress fulfills the final two years of the MOU we are currently in?

It's important that all of our listeners remember that our support for Israel's security is something that has been supported by successive presidents and congresses of both political parties.

We have entered into memoranda of understanding with the Israeli government over the years since the Clinton administration.

So in the most recent MOU, which is the one that we are currently under, it was signed in 2016 by President Obama.

It covers the years 2018 to 2028.

So right now, Congress is in the process of funding that ninth year of that 10 year MOU.

What it outlined was, is that the United States would be providing $3.3 billion every year in foreign military financing to Israel.

But before we get there, explain the difference between why we have these appropriation bills versus the Authorization Act.
