Oregon State Beavers men's basketball

They play the Cardinals and Raiders the next two weeks before the bye week.

Oregon State men's basketball runs past Weber State, 102-61.

First career win for Newby's head coach, Justin Joyner.

Ducks men's hoops, 87-69 winners over Montana for Tony Shubblefield's first official win as Oregon head coach.

Seattle now 4-4 overall.

I did release it here.

And then we had a second client play on the Oregon State game over 160 and a half.

Oregon State scored 102.

It's a far cry from Wayne Tinkle at Oregon State now.

And so we had a 2-0 to start the season, which is very, very good.

We'll take it.

But long-winded way of saying, hey, how do you feel about Ben Jacobson at Utah State? Is he in it for the long haul? And also part two, Justin Joyner coming from Michigan to Oregon State.

Are you buying any stock in that 98-93 exhibition loss at Michigan from the Beavers?

Yeah, I'm buying in.

I think it's a good sign.

And then Josiah Lake for Oregon state.

I think those would be the two names that I throw out for player of the year.

And I think Lake is going to be another guy for the Beavers that if you don't know this team very well, he will stand out.

Maybe it is the Gonzaga game that the casual national fans watch and get an idea of who he is, but I wouldn't be shocked if he makes some noise in the conference as well.

Some might even say Boise State as the third team, but not me.

I am going with Justin Joyner and the Beavers of Oregon State first year head coach.

He was an assistant coach at St. Mary's for seven years.

before then taking over to be the associate head coach at Michigan for two years.

And then I think San Diego State and I think Oregon State and even Colorado State will compete.

But give me the Beavers potentially making a push here and succeeding massively in their first year post Wayne Tinkle.

Well, the good news is that Jesse Legree is going to actually play basketball as well.

Maybe that'll help.

All right, welcome to the Payton Years, your home for Oregon State men's basketball.

The only podcast in existence dedicated solely to Oregon State men's basketball.

As always, I'm your host, Andy, and I'm here with my friend, Sam.

Sam, how are you doing?

I'm doing fantastic, Andy.

I, like all Payton heads, all members of Beaver Nation, all conscious members of this society am am bursting at the metaphorical seams with the anticipation about the return of college basketball this coming Monday for real.

We've had fun with the exhibitions.

It's probably been the most, like, wild exhibition season ever.

Welcome on into the Wolverine basketball show Clayton Safey here with you with a special guest special edition excited to get into it here with Justin Joyner first year head coach at Oregon State the Beavers we saw them a week and a half ago at Chrysler of course former Michigan assistant the last two years Justin great to have you on here man I'm excited to talk.

Yeah.

Likewise.

you know, I think we've kind of layered it out to be, first and foremost, we're irrelevant in college basketball.

Just call it what it is.

Oregon State Beavers have work to do to become a relevant program in college basketball.

And we think we can do that.

We think we can do it quickly.

I think they're going to make the tournament again and be dominant in Southland.

Last tier in my top 101, Boise State 87, Yale 89, UIC 91, UNC Wilmington 94, Toledo 95, UNLV 96, Miami University 97, Oregon State 98, Harvard 100, and UC Irvine 101.

Um...

Just real quick on this.

Daniel Freitag and Ryan Sable were unbelievable and they're both out the door.

They both transferred to, uh, I think it was Oregon state and then Sable was somewhere in the ACC, but, uh, um, it, it's a brand new team and I don't know, uh, If they've got a star, let alone two here on this roster, I've got them falling down like a rock and water kind of to where they've typically been in Halkovich's tenure below 500, you know, four or five wins in league.

There's just other rosters that I like here better in the Mid-American Conference this year.

I got Buffalo 12th.
