Order to cash

And I'm going to bring up something that probably many, many listeners are familiar with.

You've probably heard of the so-called order to cash value stream, right? Order to cash, right? What's the value proposition, right? It has little to do with customer value, which in turn says a whole lot about what many companies view as value, getting paid, getting their money.

I talk to a lot of people.

This is a true perspective by companies.

That's not realistic.

We need to get money for what we offer.

That's all well and good, right? But It gets into a situation, so if you're viewing order to cash as a value stream and you get paid up front, now that the money's collected, the organization can wash your hands of the situation and leave the customer out on their own.

So when collecting the customer payment is perceived as the customer value, it corrupts everything from the culture of the organization to the software that implements this false and unrealistic premise.
