Orchard Street

And that really disappeared for a good period of time because things became so dispersed.

And I remember this is back in the days of Facebook when you could take a look at images of like the openings at the night and everyone would be like hot and sweaty with like drinks in their hand like, you know, rolling out of galleries on 24th Street or on Delancey or on Orchard Street.

And that was a pocket of time that I think was really missed when things got so dispersed.

And so now that there's been this whole influx of galleries in Tribeca, You were getting that again.

I mean, in a way, I think we softened it really quite a bit because the truth is that actual tenement life was worthless.

I mean, the tenement that we built, which is based on, of course, the tenements of the day, and you can see them at the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street, which is just great, was much, much smaller than where we shot, which was on the stage.

We built it.

Because if it were the same size, we wouldn't put the crew and the camera in there.

Under the top hat you bought next century in New York.

On Orchard Street in a store that no longer exists.

Right.

Um, so we just created it out of like we'd go down to Orchard Street and there were some old ladies selling old like bustiers, but it was everything that we wanted, like the old school corsetry.

But the, the scene though, like at the Mud Club with Anya and Terence Sellers, I mean, there was a whole-

came together with this organization to put on a fashion show as like a pre-New York Fashion Week kind of like teaser primer.

Literally in the streets of the Lower East Side, there was like a block of Orchard Street that they closed off and had a pop-up show and it was a silent disco.

So they had a DJ that was like on the balcony of a boutique where these designers stuff was as well that people could shop.

And the DJ was just up there like on the second story overlooking this block of the Lower East Side.

[laughs] Bro, I think you need to go hang out.

I got, I got some people, my tailors, they on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side.

I think you go-

They all immigrants.

Well, my tailor's on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side.

Is it right there, right off of Delancey?

Uh, I, we got two pizzas.

We got the classic cheese, and then we got the 35 Orchard Street, which is their tribute to the Scarr's Pizza, um, hot honey pie.

So it's their cold fermented dough, California, New Jersey tomatoes, Pecorino Romano, Calabrian oregano, whole milk mozzarella.

Mm.

And I was like, oh, this is so cool that this restaurant's doing this thing.

And they opened up in the Lower East Side in Orchard Street.

And I saw an ad on Craigslist for openings.

Which is funny because I was like, why are they using Craigslist? And in my mind, I was like, what a wild thing.
