Optimist International of Yucca Valley are proud to be a part of a new initiative, a first in the high desert.

The Joshua Tree Film Office, in partnership with the Yucca Valley Film Festival, is launching its first two micro-grants with the clear objective of creating new opportunities for independent and emerging filmmakers.

The Lombardo Family Grant and the Suroptimist International Yucca Valley Grant will each provide $500 to an eligible filmmaker previously selected by the Yucca Valley Film Festival.

The Suroptimist Grant will specifically support a female filmmaker.

The Lombardo Family Grant continues support they began eight years ago into a new phase by financial support to filmmakers who actually want to film in Yucca Valley.

really I want to address in this episode the NTPA as I understand it from my viewpoint and I just you know in the mid 70s was old enough to start to watch these there were no associations a lot of like city city you know if they had a day like 4th of July or any day that they had an event and Or county fairs were a big one.

And then I think sometimes you would get into, I believe like in my hometown, the Optimist Club would put on a poll in conjunction to, well, I grew up in Kelowna, Iowa.

So Ernie Ropp was a big name and a local John Deere dealer.

So he would work with them and help promote it.

It's like 300 or 400 seats, sponsored by the – Oh, gosh, if I get it wrong, don't shoot me.

I think it's the Optimist Club, but it's a family show.

A year after this, I got the chance to play my first international tournament, which I can say is like a really big moment in my life, just having my dad always there to teach me the game of golf.

That's pretty cool that you and your dad play golf together.

How did you guys find out about the qualifier for our Optimist International Tournament?

So we actually got a spot from our tour and I qualified through winning the, I became a national champion here in the DR and they gave me a spot.

And that's kind of where we started off.

It definitely started from my dad kind of knowing all about the tournament, especially when he used to play.

So tell us a little bit how many times you've been in a qualifier for playing for the Optimist International Tournament.

It was only twice.

We got a very notable appearance from one John Cook last year during the state tournament run.

You know, the Holders Optimist Club does a great job there.

What are the chances we're seeing another famous supernova, Husker? Like, is there someone else in the works that we need to be on the lookout for?

You know, Optimus is great.

We will see a better TCI.
