So how did a federal meeting that was supposedly held to review opioid safety data turn into yet another anti-opioid monologue from the very same prop insiders who have been steering this policy disaster for over a decade? The studies we will be discussing today were not born out of scientific curiosity.

They were ordered by the FDA in 2013, not really to help patients either, but to pacify prop.

At least I think that's why they were done.

After the agency denied Prop's petition request for drastic, and I mean drastic, opioid label changes.

Prop really was asking for extreme changes to opioids, which we'll go over in a minute.

But basically, the FDA was like, yeah, no, I don't think so.

But instead, they ordered a series of post-marketing requirements, which is PMR.

And you know, at first glance, the petition looked like it was just a public health initiative, but it was actually wrong.

There's a lot of people in Opioid.

There's all fucking people over there.

We have free beers, but they take free fucking.

And my boyfriend, he's an o- opioid addict.

And he's like-

Yeah, the guy's got a PhD in drugs.

So maids are kind of like the opiate of the masses.

Yeah.

Opiate gives you slothful and lay off.

Exactly.

Exactly.

I know that you work on overdose and what's been dubbed the opioid crisis.

And, you know, I think to drill it down for some folks, could you speak to what the effects of Medicare for All or, you know, in terms of that set of issues, which, you know, in media, they're on two separate pages.

They're going to have a story about Opioid overdose is on one page, and then the story about Medicare for All is going to be on a different policy page.

And if we don't connect those dots, then we're not getting the story.

And I just wonder, final thoughts from you, like, how do you connect these things?

And the warning was based on safety concerns reported to the FDA in this sort of post-marketing period and some retrospective data.

But what's hard to know, and I'm sure you've seen this too, John, like our patients with opioid use disorder, they have so many risk factors for poor oral health already.

They don't go to the dentist.

They have bad insurance.

They take other psychiatric medications that cause dry mouth.

There's just a lot of issues, dental issues with these patients.

There's some theory that they dull their dental pain with opioids.

And so that makes it so they don't go to the dentist when other people might.
