Operation Petticoat

Yeah, which is really an important story to tell.

We will do a screwball comedy at some point, um, called Operation Petticoat, which is, like, the lightest World War II movie I've ever seen, but it's also still great.

[laughs]

I keep hearing about these things while we're talking about them.

Also opening on that day, Can Can, The Angry Red Planet, and The Wind Cannot Read, which is a movie I'd literally never heard of and is a very odd title.

Uh, also playing in Gotham that weekend, The 500 Blows, Operation Petticoat, Room at the Top, Suddenly Last Summer, Ivan the Terrible Parts One and Two, On the Beach, Our Man in Havana, and Ikiru.

Mike, what were the news headlines on that day?

[Instrumental music]

It'll get you there.

ABC aired Mel and Susan Together, Operation Petticoat, and The Love Boat.

Our home network, NBC, aired Chips, and the 1974 film, Airport 1975.

We've talked about it before.

I must have gone to see every movie Cary Grant ever made.

Actually, Tony and Cary, well, they got along famously during Operation Petticoat in 1959.

God, is it that far back? I released that picture.

And the two stayed close even after the completion of filming.

Yeah, I mean, if you were listening to him and you closed your eyes and didn't know that it was Tony Curtis, you would swear it was Cary Grant.

Well, that's right.

Operation Petticoat, man, I'm back in Lafayette.

And just listening to the two of them together, talking to each other was like the same voice was talking to him.
