OpenStep

So just a little bit of, like, nerdy trivia for our audience.

One of the things that happened after this is that NeXT, out of this shift, was that OpenStep was created.

Can you just talk a little bit about what OpenStep was and how it's part- the partnership with Sun, and then I'll give that little trivia bit afterwards

afterwardsSure.

So the, uh, deal with Sun, it was set up by a software engineer named Bud Tribble, who was the chief of software at NeXT, and he was there from the beginning.

Sun was a major player.

The idea was to create, I guess you would call it the API in software terms.

So the idea is that OpenStep would be the layer of NeXTstep that sits on top of the Sun systems.
