Well, in fact, what is kind of interesting is we go from this story to The Rescue, and we get to see that Britain in particular rebuilds after this invasion, and that Vicki comes from that future.

And then in The Chase, which we'll be talking about quite soon, she actually talks about ancient New York having been destroyed in the Dalek invasion, so it is part of the history that she's learned.
