Ood

But prolonged contact with a thing is what...

I'll tell you what, they do a version of it, actually, in Planet of the Ood, where essentially he's drinking the thing, but essentially what it is is prolonged contact with the Ood brain is what turns him into an Ood.

Well, it's not quite that, but prolonged contact with an angel, and more than just physical contact, but like psychic contact, where the angel sends you back repeatedly...

A storyline where that is what's turning Amy into an angel would have been interesting.

From Impossible Planet and whatever your website's called.

With the Ood.

Like, okay.

I'm going to go for Stamina.

What's yours? 9,400.

9,400.

Fear factor for Ood, the odd Ood.

37,000.

In space.

And it's the Ood.

It's the Ood.

And I do love the Ood.

Great characters.

Great aliens.

So this is time we saw them again.

The

know how that works in a basement.

There will be a brand new exclusive interview with director James Strong and original Ood voice actor Silas Carson has even recorded fresh lines to flesh out the ultimate crop tour experience.

Naturally, this was all shot in standard definition back in the day, though the original cut has been released in upscaled HD on Blu-ray.

There's a good chance that this time they have used AI upscaling, in which case, don't be surprised to see a little jank in the details.

and obviously he wrote the Doctor Who lockdown, many episodes, The Descendants of Pompeii, and he also wrote the novel for this story as well, which came out in 2022.

In August 2007, Russell moved The Fires of Pompeii ahead of Plan of the Ood in the series order so that the impressive filming locations could be seen earlier in the series.

Russell's rewrites added elements such as the petrified soothsayers and the character of Lucius Petrus Dectrus.

On the 9th of August, a major fire broke out on the Roman backlot at the Cincinnati Studios during a production visit by producer Phil Collins and production manager Tracy Simpson.

I used to love the overarching sort of stories, the hidden stuff in Doctor Who when they first started doing it.

Like I loved Bad Wolf and I liked all of the, you know, when the Ood were like, Doctor, you're going to freaking die.

You know, I liked all that stuff.

Yeah.

Hashtag AskTrekCulture, which is a reminder, guys, if you want to message us, use the hashtag.

What are your current theories? So I think this was before the show actually ended, the current series ended, but I think it still works.

What are your current theories on where Una, Ortegas, La'an, and Pelia will end up at the end of Strange New Worlds? Ood will have her own ship.

I suppose we saw a possibility for what will happen in the future with Ortegas, that she's going to be a flight instructor.

Uh, that's, that's a wonderful cliffhanger.

Uh, so obviously this is the one that if you- careful viewers will know that, uh, that, uh, that, that that's the one that Vaughn has, uh, given the Ood to.

Um, but yes, I like the, uh, uh, I, I like the, the sewer setting and a policeman in the sewer, uh, policeman getting killed by the Cybermen.

It's all very, uh...

I'm just thinking what you've got in the footage.

He turns and you see the Ood, don't you? And you have the Ood look at him and it just goes, oh, you fucked up, mate.

Yeah.

Truly fucked up, mate.

No joke.

Like you could have done something quite like that because that's the other thing.

The Ood kind of seemed hardly used in that moment for something like that.

They're coming to him for what? You're right.

Nice.

I might go as an Ood.

I think you should.

I'll crochet you some tentacle bits if you want, tendrils.

Yeah.

But did introduce us, of course, to the Ood, which are always, always good.

Just to s- talk about that for a second, there are gonna be a few cut scenes that are gonna be put back in, and I think, uh, an interview or two.

I'm looking forward to it.
