I'm a business strategist, speaker and the founder of Onnit.

Now there have been almost 400 episodes here on this podcast, which is crazy to think about all of those hours of me chatting away and talking with other people on the internet.

Now, what's kind of crazy as well is that in that time, I have actually never done a dedicated episode where I tell my origin story and talk about how I quit school at 16, started a business at 17 and now age 28, 28? 28.

I want to say it took about nine months for me to get my first paying client for the kind of work that i was wanting to be doing again the privilege of living at home also still having at this point the christmas grotto elf job over christmas which i would work so much it would kind of survive me throughout the rest of the year keep in mind i didn't have bills to pay so for me you know enough money to survive on was probably only a few thousand pounds back then but yeah it was slower this time around and actually i remember that being something i documented a sitting in that period where you haven't got the results yet, but just trusting the process, trusting yourself.

One of the biggest things that I learned in that rebuilding period was the importance of working on the business, not just in it.

The AB method, which is now the core of my business, it's the core of Onnit, my program, it's used by probably thousands of business owners every year to reverse engineer their growth.

It originally started as just my own need for structure.

So how did I do it? You know, first of all, as I said, the mindset.

The second thing I did was I got into the IC And I did the Onnit bookkeeping budget builder from March 21st, 2022.

I watched that session over a few times.

I paused, I Googled, I cried, I looked things up.

and Dave from Onnit actually breaks it down beautifully.

Here are my first takeaways from that, and if this is something that you're struggling with too, this is where I am going to say start here.

The KPIs, think of them as your warnings lights.

When I first got to Onnit, I had... basically taken that job on a very quick turnaround.

I had one sponsor for my podcast that was paying 90 grand a year.

We had a contract at a 30 K severance.
