He's an amazing author who's authored many great rock books, including "Unspooled: The Adventure in 8-Tracks." And last year we had him on to discuss his book, "Sing Me Away: The Night Ranger Album Review." And now he's just published his latest book, "On Record: The April Wine Album Review," and I can't wait to talk to him about it.

Uh, uh, yes.

Uh, April Wine, uh, in 1972 had two hits, or one hit really, "You Could Have Been a Lady" off their second album On Record, and then didn't have another charting hit in the US until 1979 with the song "Roller." So they went a, a whole seven years without a hit, and then in the '80s got like five or six of them on the, on the Hot 100, which was, uh, it kind of, uh, kind of interesting.
MarkHOST
47:53
You don't usually see too many bands from the '60s get more hits in the '80s.
MarkHOST
47:57
Usually they fade away.

See, that's why I like having you as a guest, because you make my job as the host so much easier.

Nick BambachHOST

So let's just get on in it, Tim, and talk about the book.
Nick BambachHOST

When did you start writing the book?

26 MINS LATER

One thing that I think is interesting, too, about April Wine is that, for the most part, when they did covers, they weren't obvious covers.
Tim DurlingGUEST
27:05
even if they were by well-known artists.
Tim DurlingGUEST
27:07
So if we go back to the Elton John thing, so their second album was actually called On Record, which is where I got the idea to name my book.
Tim DurlingGUEST
27:16
Now, in the US, it was the first thing that came out, and it was just self-titled, but it's actually their second album.
