Olympic Games Rio 2016

So he steps away in 2000 from the sport, and rightly so.

He comes back as a 93-year-old to help Hamish Carson at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Could you imagine doing that?

I don't know, actually.

Did you ever have a race where you felt or you ran incredibly well, but immediately started thinking about what you could have done

better? I probably the 2016 Olympics, I would say, you know, that was a race where I was hoping to try to medal.

I'd had such a big disappointment the year before in 2015.

And I was like, you know what? Next year is an Olympic year.

So ever since that time, I then went to work for London 2012 for the organising committee.

And then I went to Rio 2016 for four years, which was fantastic.

Really such a fantastic life experience.

And then after that, I came to Lausanne to the International Olympic Committee where I carry on in sport and sustainability here in Switzerland.

And so what we try to do at F1 is mix behavioural change, operational change in our business with technological innovation to help make those reductions happen in real

time.

Julie, what about the Olympic Games? You know, for example, Paris 2024 or Rio 2016, which you worked on closely.

How much of a carbon footprint was there from those?

This stuff is like everywhere.

And through people like Alyssa Liu of the Olympics was the perfect.

I was like doing the edits.

I had to go back and put her in because she was obviously doing extremely hard things that no one could do.

She said she's out there relaxed, enjoying herself while she's doing this hard thing.

And I'm like, that's another example.

So it's not something invented or new and it exists in people doing really cool things like Usain Bolt in the, I think it was the 2016 Olympics when he was running and he crossed the finish line, he knew where the camera was and he was so far ahead of everybody that he just turned and smiled at the camera.

And it's this beautiful picture of, softness in a way.
