He's a chatty fellow, but not tonight.

Jessup is a lawyer, and he has a big case in two days in the state capital of Olympia.

He's arguing in front of the state appeals court.

Jessup lost the initial case in the lower court, and he's determined to win this round.

Sure, yeah.

So we have October 8th in Olympia at LaVoyer.

October 9th in Seattle at Kraken.

October 10th, Portland, Waypost.

They rode east to their friends of the pleasant climate and the beautiful country and the great tracts of land to be had for the taking.

Many immigrants for the Puget Sound country, therefore, came across the plains to Fort Vancouver, then up the Cowlitz River and over the old Cowlitz Trail to Olympia.

There had long been a rumor of a good Indian trail from Fort Walla Walla across the Cascade Mountains to Puget Sound.

If this was true, it would save much time and travel, for immigrants could cross the mountains from the Yakima Valley and save perhaps 200 miles or more.

All day long they had eaten nothing except a few berries, and for days before that they had been almost starved.

But at last these brave people were over the mountains and out of the forest.

The settlers, who were now living in their log cabins on Puget Sound, near what is now Olympia, sent men to them with bacon and potatoes and flour.

The Hudson's Bay Company, from Fort Nisqually, sent beef to them and vegetables, so there was no longer any danger of starvation, and at last they were safe.

I'm from Washington State.

I live about an hour south of Seattle in the capital of the state, Olympia.

You've probably heard of it.

I grew up Washingtonian.

And they said, get to an OA meeting.

And I didn't know anything about OA, did not know what that meant.

Found one in a town, the town I now live in, Olympia.

And there were strong abstinence in Olympia, strong abstinence.

I think there's one in Michigan, too, and a couple in California.

Olympia is a city in Washington that already has such an anti-discrimination law.

Okay.

Well, okay.

But yeah, it's I feel like every day there's a new AI headline.

Yes.

The one other thing that I saw while I was out was that McClatchy laid off a lot of people nationwide, a lot of journalists out of work now, including seven reporters at the Bellingham Herald, the Olympian, Tacoma News Tribune, and Tri-City Herald.

It's always a bummer to see journalists being laid off in a time where there are fewer and fewer journalists.

Yeah.

My colleague Mike Smith recently chatted with her and she was saying a similar thing, just how it's like so wonderful that you both are teaming up because it was kind of like different scenes in a way where it's like you had kind of like Olympia, Slater-Kinney, and then she was over there in Chicago.

So I think a lot of people are super thrilled about this lineup.
