He dedicated himself full time to art collecting.

But it wasn't until 1926, when he was 66 years old, that Hilla von Riebe, who you mentioned, Olly, She had been commissioned to paint his portrait, and she introduced him to abstract art, which was something that, you know, before then his collection was all old masters, because that was seen as something that a wealthy, retired man might reasonably want to collect.
A
3:45Arion McNicollHOST
And so at this point he began adding more avant-garde works to his collection, the likes of Picasso, Kandinsky, etc.

It's certainly-- It's right up there with Carina Graham anyway, in my view, but what do I know? Uh, Richard continues, "Oli, can I be Manbassador for Wool, in Dorset, please? Uh, it's a nice little village with a very loose connection to Thomas Hardy." [chuckles] It's honest of you to say.
O
3:10Olly MannHOST
Uh, "I regularly talk to people about how fabulous The Modern Man is, of course, and will continue to do so regardless of the award of this prestigious honor." Um, you know how to make an Oli Mann blush, Richard.

It was today in history in 1600 that San Marino, the world's fifth-smallest country, adopted a collection of six books as its governing documents, which together were called the Statutes, Decrees, and Ordinances of the Serene Republic of the Perpetual Freedom of the Land of San Marino.
O
0:33Olly MannHOST
[laughs] And wildly, the regulations they established are still in place today, leading many historians to declare San Marino as having the oldest continuously surviving constitution in the world, though also unleashing a torrent of anorakish discussion about what denotes a constitution, a nation state, and even what's meant by the concept of continuousness.
