Olive Smith

Yeah.

So PhD candidate Olive Smith has her grad interview at Stanford but tries to put in her expired contacts in a private lab bathroom.

A mysterious man tells her she shouldn't be in that bathroom but encourages her to continue in her interview and with her studies.

On the first day, she develops a crush on Jeremy and meets Ann, who quickly becomes her closest friend and adopts the orphaned Olive as a pseudo-sister, bringing her home for the holidays and encouraging her to join in more campus activities.

Eric, which is do you know who these characters are supposed to be? So I will say a character from the movie, and you will tell me the equivalent Star Wars character that you think this is.

So we'll start out really easy.

Olive Smith is...

Is Ray.

Evil?" It's like, is this guy some super villain or something? It's like, if I, if I hadn't seen the movie before watching the trailer, I probably would've wondered if this guy was some super villain or something.

Olive Smith.

I accept your proposal to deceive your friend into believing that I'm your love interest.

Sounds really bad when you put it like that.

You know what?

No, I'm fine.

How tall are you? The only thing that matters, what's Olive Smith going to do?

I've never been in this situation before.

Yeah.

Um, so yes, obviously kicking that off, Lily Reinhart does star as Olive Smith, who's the lead.

Uh, she stars opposite Tom Bateman, who plays Adam Carlson.

Um, he's an English actor, and obviously-

Evil, starts to res- retract from her life.

She meets with Anh, and it's like, "What the fuck is Olive Smith gonna do?" Like i- in the face-

Yeah

... of all this, in, in the face of the existing hierarchies, what are you gonna do in the meantime? What resources do you have available to you to activate potentially from people who have been through the same thing? And like Olive does not have to go to Dr.

Also-

Like... [laughs]

Not, not to be annoying, but are Dr. Carlson and Olive Smith in different fields of study?

Technically, yes.

Hubba hubba.

Olive, l- little orphan Olive Smith only loves one thing more than scientific research and the destruction of pancreatic cancer, and that's her very super best friend pal, Anh, who is major crushing on a fellow research student named Jeremy.

But Anh, she loves her friend just as much.

She says, "Olive, I'm girl code, 100%.

...

Olive Smith.

Olive Smith, the Rey character.

She is also an executive producer, which we were very-

She is

You can.

Okay.

Well, Olive Smith is a Stanford biology PhD student.

The scientific method is baked right into the DNA of the narrative.

Our heroine is Olive Smith, a third-year biology PhD candidate at Stanford

She is brilliant, but she is struggling under the intense pressure of her research, which focuses on the early detection of pancreatic cancer
