Earlier this year, the residents of Olds found out that a 1.4-gigawatt natural gas plant with an attached hyperscale data center was being proposed right here in our backyards.

At that time, I didn't know much about data centers.

I'm not an AI expert or an energy expert.

I was just a person who started asking questions.

But that isn't their first game of the weekend.

They do play Olds College on Saturday.

However, this one is a little bit of a foregone conclusion, no offense to Olds, but a team that SAIT beat 3-0 in September, and I believe they rested some of their starters in that one.

Olds is coming into it in fifth place of the ACAC South with a 2-4-3 record.

And for the men's, uh, Trojans teams, they'll be playing that same pair of opponents.

They'll be playing Olds College on Saturday in Olds, and then they'll play Medicine Hat at SAIT on Sunday, and that, that match at SAIT will be at 2:15.

Yeah, and in looking at Olds on the men's side, they're, you know, even, uh, worse than the women's team, who aren't actually all that bad.

But, uh, on the men's side, Olds College is 0-7.

And so in the current state of what's happening in Alberta, there is a moratorium for the use of renewables.

And right now, there's this requirement that the AI data center and the project owners will bring in their own new gas plants as well and so what we're seeing then is an even larger intake of even more oil and gas and then it falls to the existing regulators to kind of do the permits and to understand um what happens next and so maybe just to kind of bring you into olds alberta which is about just an hour outside of calgary between calgary and edmonton and so for them The municipality had already agreed that they were in favor of the data center, which is pretty insane because if you've seen the footage coming out of Olds, Alberta, it was literally like right across the

street from residents.

And thank goodness, the AUC, so the Alberta Utilities Commissioner came out and said that they couldn't find any benefit to the community and that there was a huge issue with how close the data center would be.
