Oholah and Oholibah

Right at the end of the chapter, a new prophecy.

Then God said to me, Will you please judge for me? dispute ideologically with Oholah in the north and Oholivah in the south.

And describe to them.

Describe to them in detail.

like as my mind was alienated from her sister yet she multiplied her whoredoms in calling to remembrance the days of her youth wherein she had played the harlot in the land of egypt for she doted upon their paramours whose flesh is as the flesh of asses and whose issue is like the issue of horses Thus thou callest to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.

Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord God.

Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated.

and I will bring them against thee on every side, the Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pechod, and Shoah, and Kohah, and all the Assyrians with them, all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.

And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her, And with the men of the common sort were brought Sabaeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them? Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot.

So went they in unto Ahola, and unto Aholibah, the lewd women and the righteous men they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses and after the manner of women that shed blood because they are adulteresses and blood is in their hands for thus saith the Lord God I will bring up a company upon them and will give them to be removed and spoiled and the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords.

They shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

So I'm okay.

So I'm like kind of going to go out the door and I see my sister in the corner.

He speaks to me a lot with my sister.

My sister's in the corner playing with Christian, representing Christ, the Sims game, like simulation, like they're playing a game, right? And I run out this door, and the dark, it's black, and I know I'm going to go study like I had been doing in this dream.

And I fall down and I like go to sleep.

And as I do this, I suddenly have a dream vision.

And they're in like the multimedia booth.

And I'm exiting this building, but I think that it represented the church was the mother harlot bride.

So this is the cup of bitter water, says the Ma'abim, that the southern kingdom will have to drink.

And the Ma'abim, and not only the Ma'abim, the others explain that Oholiva, Yerushalayim, is considered even more culpable than Shomron, than the northern kingdom of Ohola.

After all, in the south you shall witness the destruction of the northern kingdom and refuse to learn a lesson from it and therefore God decreed that she must drink the same cup of divine punishment and again as I pointed out and as Malvin points out and others point out the imagery here is of a cup and that evokes the waters of bitterness that bring the curse just like the mei ha-morim ha-mamorim in the Sotah ritual and this is in the Midbar in chapter 5 just as the Sotah, the adulteress, the suspected adulteress drinks the bitter waters because of her unfaithfulness, the suspected unfaithfulness Sotu Oholiva Yerushalayim, portrayed here as an unfaithful wife, must drink the Sotu cup of God's judgment that her sister Ohola in the north had already drunk and had already been punished with.

She was already in exile.

So, on that subject, the subject of the cup of punishment, God continues in verse 32.

In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.

The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah.

They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters.

Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians— warriors clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen.

She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after.

She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom, and poured out their lust on her.

I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord.

"Ve'acharisech becheret tipol," and your survivors will fall by the sword.

Um, this means that the Babylonians will inflict upon Aholibah, which is, uh, Yerushalayim, God's name for Yerushalayim, the punishment customarily imposed on adulterous women who betray their husbands.

Uh, since, as the Abarbanel says, this is a mashal, since she brazenly presented her face, exemplify-- exemplified by the nose to the adulterer to seduce him, and her ears listened to the words of her adulterous partner.

Therefore, in the ancient world, as a mark of shame and disgrace, the nose and the ears of adulterous women would be cut off.

This is the reality corresponding to the cutting off of the nose and the ears.

The symbolic meaning behind the nose and the ears means the children, the youth of Yehuda, they will be taken away.

And, "Ve'acharisech te'achel ba'esh," your survivors, the residue, will be consumed by fire, refers to the royal palace and the houses of the nobility of Yerushalayim, which were burned in the destruction of Aholibah, of the city of Jerusalem, and the destruction of the temple.

So the Abarbanel understands the verse can be summed up like this.
